Anthropocene (Landscape) Futures for Baakenhöft Baakenhöft, located opposite the HCU, is the last terrain vague in HafenCity, offering ample space for fresh ideas in the Anthropocene era as no defined plans currently exist for this unique site in the Elbe River. Our project investigates Baakenhöft as a material interface of various planetary and local connections, exploring radical, speculative landscape futures. In this studio, envisioned as a lab, we will explore the intertwined water-land relationships and sedimentation of Baakenhöft. Through sensory explorations, cartographic studies, experimental models, and 1:1 installations, we will develop territorial strategies and specific spatial designs that reflect Baakenhöft’s hybrid environments. Supported by theoretical texts and insights from HafenCity residents, artists, biologists, and scientists, we will conduct expeditions and field studies. These activities will generate conceptual and design approaches that envision Baakenhöft as an integrated system of natural, social, and technical components, offering perspectives on its future.
